Hemmeroid rage that is. I've got one about the size of a small grape. Really flared today after a 13mi run. How do you deal with this whole training? I'm in the heart of a marathon training plan to. When it's flared in the past I've just globbed vaseline on it before a run to keep from irritating it

Anyone have any experience is stories to share?

sitting on crushed ice is a good idea, as often as you can until it shrinks. Good luck!

Try crushing a vitamin E gel capsule and apply (exterior) once it's flared.

Shorten time on the toilet, look at diet (fiber) changes, hydrate adequately before and during runs, use a bit more cushioned shoe to help prevent.

Glass of metamucil once a day. Sitz baths (warm bath which soaks your O-ring). Witch hazel applied to the roid to decrease symptoms - Tucks medicated pads have this.

Is it safe to run long distance with this thing? I'm afraid of irritating it and making it painful. Right now it's a bit painful but mostly annoying.

I'd take it easy until the swelling goes down.  Last thing you want is for the blood vessel to break - its a real PITA, both literally and figuratively.

I've dealt with this for well over a year, and mine was bigger than a small grape.  Not joking.

Don't use vaseline since it may cause more issues.

I ran with a full-blown "thrombosed" hemorrhoid 3 weeks ago during my 50 mile Ultra.  Yes, it was miserably painful the whole time, but I somehow mentally did not let it get to me and was able to focus on the running, scenery, and other runners/spectators.

I did go to urgent care for a minor surgery relief, but that didn't help completely and ended up going to general surgery to get it removed.  I'm recovering at this time very well.

It may seem like a laughing matter and people will make "pain in the azz" jokes, but I didn't mind and found them funny.

Get to thy doctor and get evaluated, otherwise you might end up like what I went through.

What kind of issues can vaseline cause? It's mainly to eliminate friction on the thing. I had it looked at last time it flared up and doc wasn't concerned. Said it wasn't thrombosed and I should be able to exercise.

Thrombosed hemeroid seems like the ultimate nightmare. Did you lube it up or something?

Vaseline is oil-based and may cause some problems on that sensitive vein, at least what I experienced.  Others say to apply liberally.  I would check with your doctor for a final diagnosis.

Preparation H NEVER worked for me.

I used Body Glide to prevent chafing for the run, but the hemorrhoid picked up some of  the Body Glide (along with sweat) and the combination made less friction, thus slightly less pain.
