Subject: RIP Idgie RIP Canadian Ch Thunderstruck Dark Malice ATChC, ADCH, AgMX, AgJX, OA, OAJ, EAC, WV-X, TUN-X, TNG-X "Idgie" July 27, 1999--November 16, 2013 Idgie was our old girl. Her registered name belied her true nature. She was friend to all and would wag her helicopter tail at you if you smiled at her. She made it through two winters with chronic pneumonia. Unfortunately, because she would rub her face to scratch her stuffy nose, she created a corneal ulcer. Despite aggressive treatment, today it ruptured. The only treatment is surgical removal of the eye. But due to her pneumonia, she would not have survived the surgery. So we made the decision to end her pain. Idgie was an agility dog; my partner and she went to the world championships twice. They were an amazing team: Idgie, while not fast, was incredibly consistent. She had a form of cancer at age 5, but with surgery and 2 rounds of chemo, had no further issues. That was Idgie. Stoic, strong and wise. She was so serious--our other Staffies are funny and have senses of humour. Idgie would play, but was always the stern matriarch of the family. She will be dearly missed. I hope you have found Oreo, Idgie, and you are hanging out together as you did in life. |
