Hey guys,

I'm looking for an early season sprint to get warmed up for my 1st A race the beginning of June (also a sprint). I'm in the RDU area... any thoughts or suggestions?

Azelea (March) and While Lake (April) sprints are always popular. White Lake is a lake swim while Azelea is a pool swim

In the FS series there is the Triangle Orthopedic Sprint ( 750m, 16.2 mi, 3.1 mi) on April 19th in Wake Forest.  If your willing to travel a little the Azalea Sprint (300yd, 9mi, 5k) in Wilmington is on March 8th and somewhere in the middle is the White Lake Sprint (750m, 14 mi, 5k) on April 13th.  While the Azalea Sprint is the earliest the weather can be anywhere from perfect to freezing like last year.  Check Setup Events for the last two.  Jones Racing Company is new this year and may also have something early.

Early= April-ish (late march early may would be fine too)

I've seen the Triangle Ortho but hadn't seen any 2014 dates yet. Are they up now?

Yes, the dates are up on the FS site. The one on 4/19 in Wake Forest would probably fit well timing wise.

FS site = FS Series, a company that produces races. www.fsseries.com.

Thanks for all the input guys,

Just found out I might be moving in March/April... so that puts a big kink in my season. I'm hoping I can still get at least two good races in (and at least one in NC).

The off season should be just that – a time to rest your body, to rehabilitate injury, and to plan ahead on how to improve performance and prevent injury in the season to come.

The off-season is the best time to fine tune your skills and prepare yourself for the next season. It is also time for you to gain some strength and get a little rest after a long season of training.

I have been able to swim 200-300 yards without stopping for the past couple of weeks, but this morning I couldn’t swim more than 50. Could not eating make a big differance?

If you develop a strategy for the off-season, you can go into the next season stronger than you ended the past season.
