Subject: Numb Toes
When I'm on the bike (on the trainer or on the road), about 5km into the ride, the middle toes on both feet start to go numb. I'm super concerned about this, as I can't imagine transitioning to the run after a long ride with 4 or five numb toes.

Any thoughts?

This also happens on the treadmill about 1 or 2 km into the run.

Note: My tibias are not straight, but curved. Not sure if this is a factor or not.

My shoes are not too tight. I've loosened them right up. Same with my running shoes.

Have you tried moving the position of your cleats a bit forward or backward?  This might help you find the right pressure point.

After I have been cycling for about an hour the three middle toes on my left foot go tingly and then hurt like the blazes. Any clue as to what may be going on?

I got a new pair of the same size / brand of shoes and started running on them. On my left foot, the toe next to the big toe starts to get a little painful and goes numb after the first 1-3 miles.

At 30 to 40 minutes into my run, my foot starts to go numb. If I keep going, the foot goes totally numb.

On the long bike rides of 80+ miles I get very strong pain in my toes. I slow down my pace and I might recover, but when I hit the next hill it is back. Could this be some kind of circulation issue?

There are a few things you can do prevention-wise to avoid these annoying toe cramps (one of which is NOT eating tons of bananas as the common wisdom dictates!)

In addition to writing your race number on each upper arm, they also wrote your age on your calf. This allowed me to see who was passing me by in the bike section of this race.
