When I started I had the same question. I decided in the two sports I was 'ahead of plan' I would build from that point, not undertrain because the plan said so. No plan is going to fit you perfectly unless it is custom designed by a qualified coach. I would look at the incremental increases in the plan and apply them to your starting point.
Also I would be remiss if I didn't share with you the three most important things I have learned about doing tris:
