I love stories like this. I have never heard of a someone who continued their workout regime responsibly that regretted it. And an hour for labor, awesome right.

I would be curious to know how long you should be at your training routine before getting pregnant to be able to continue it.

Well if you take away the bewbs that's pretty much what my belly looks like every day when I weight lift so I don't see the big deal.  ;-)

I often have mixed thoughts on stories like this because I totally get it and even understand and encourage pregnant women to continue working out.  Then I go to the gym and see somebody like this squatting and the "record screech" sound goes off in my head because it just doesn't "seem" right.  lol

Awesome for her though.  Cute baby

I think this is great.
In my opinion a pregnancy/birth is not a medical event, it is nature.
Five kids, didn't gain much with any of them 18-28 pounds, had them all without drugs and last 3 at home.
However, her shape had nothing to do with the 1 hour labor. Dealing with the pain of labor and going drug free in my opinion did though.
One of my labors was 45 minutes, I was in decent shape but not great shape. One of my labors was 22 hours that baby weighed 3.5 pounds less and I was much younger and in good shape.
Taking care of yourself and having a healthy diet is always good. Women who do not exercise and eat whatever they want have more difficulty in general when it comes to labor.
Shouldn't be surprising though. I trained for labor just like I do for a race. Makes sense to me.

I don't have issue with the mom continuing with her normal activities. I do worry that some people will think they can do it when they never have before. Pregnancy isn't the time, imho, to GET fit.

I have 4 kids and think that labor has a lot to do with anxiety. My first birth was harder and longer than my second because I was scared. With my second kid my body knew what to do and I had no fear and it was a walk in the park. (I'm sure her placement must have some impact...?) Then I had twins, and I was scared again! Once one kid was born I realized it is the same as singletons, you just get to do it twice! Second twin was born very easily.

Fit moms do not automatically have easy childbirth. Look at pro athletes who end up with C-sections. BUT, I do think very unfit people have a harder time because they don't feel comfortable with discomfort and they don't know their bodies as well.

I never imagined that 350 yards broken down into 7 REALLY long lanes would be so big! I gasped out loud and told Grady that maybe I had underestimated the swim.
