Comments:

Accidently started off to fast. Was trying to stay at an average 6:22, and misread my Garmin about 1/2 mile into race. I thought it said 6:47 and I thought I was slow, but it actually said "5:47" so I was going way to fast. Held that pace for most of the rest of the mile before I figured it out. Not sure it that hurt me in the end or not. Didn't start feeling so pressure until mile 3. I'd try to stay ahead of pace a bit, know each bridge would slow me down. Then I'd try to make up the pace again until the next bridge. I was right on pace until the last bridge, and I just couldn't recover enough in that short of a time to make up the difference. I still held on for a pretty good time though. I missed my target time by 24 seconds. My Garmin said the course was long by .1, and that would have put me under I think, but whatever. A friend I train with was trying to beat me, but I held him off, so that was good enough of a goal. Great day, and Mary came out with me! Always good to hang with her!
What would you do differently?:

Not go to fast the first mile. Duh.
Post race
Warm down:

Put on dry cloths and wait for our friend Ann to finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Besides training for long stuff all year, nothing.

Event comments:

I think this was my 30th time I ran this race.

I also had the course long by .1 mile. And I ran into some Garmin issues that first mile as well. It kept telling me I was only running an 8 min pace so I kept running faster. Hit the first mile marker in about 6:13 instead of 6:50 like I was planning. I love the new course though.
