Subject: Clicking/ popping hips and hip pain
Hi,

Pretty much since I was a young kid, my hips will let out a big "pop" when I get up from sitting down or bending over. It is sometimes loud enough for people around me to gasp !

Anyway, I've never really experienced hip pain until after my long run (16 miles) 2 days ago. The pain feels deep in my right hip and extends down the side of my right calf and up the right side of my lower back when I try and walk. Yesterday and today I've only been able to sleep and sit at home.

Please help!

I also get hip pain and popping noises since I started running a few years ago. It could be your IT band. I would get it checked out just in case. I've incorporated stretching and strength training into my routine, it might also help with a day off and a massage.

Don't laugh...you've got "snapping hip syndrome". Here are some links:

Could be snapping you hear (tendon/muscles over the bones), or clicking of the bone in the socket (impingement).

A good PT will help.
