Subject: Changing shoes a month before a 50k
Hi,

I'll be running my first 50k Ultra about a month from now, im currently using Asics GT-2170 , which is 6months old, and about 400-500km+... The forefoot mesh cover is starting to tear off, and the very small part of the heel has already blown off, just a little...Im eyeing for a Saucony Guide 6 as Asics have stopped their 2170 models and I can't find an available shoes for my size locally.

Should I buy now within this week, and have it broken-in? The 8mm heel-toe drop of the Guide 6 may not be a problem as I have a kswiss quicky blade light which I use interchangeably and during Tri's. OR should I still use the 2170s until the Ultra and retire it afterwards? I think I still have to run around 100-150km up until the said date....

I've been training full with the 2170s for the runs in preparation for the Ultra...any advice?

As long as the shoe works for you it should be ok to switch.

Just for reference, the GT 2000 series is the successor to the 2170 if you want to stay with more or less the same shoe that you have.

So, since my beloved go-to shoe brand has changed its shoe, after reading the bruhaha about the minimalist shoe, I decided to give it a try. Now I have a foot issue with my arch area.

I was humbled last year. My body shut down on me just before two World Championship events. I was originally in top form to medal in both, but my strength was sapped from me.
