It is a very steep climb, but short .25 mile. the downhill. After the downhill is a turn east which is a 10 mile climb. not very steep, but you know you are climbing. At about mile 36 there is another steep climb. Not as bad as the first, then the downhill. It is a good downhill and you can't go over 25 mph or be DQ'd. Sharp turn at the bottom of hill. Another slight climb to mile 39, then start heading west. Once you hit the last aid station the headwind from the coast gets you until the finish.

Great race, congratulations! It was wise to stick to your plan. Now that you know you can do it, you can work on pushing the pace next time if you want. Good job!

Thanks Kelly,
That was my plan. I just wanted to know I could do it. Now I want to do it faster. It was really hard not riding as fast as I could, but it really paid off when there were people who flew past me in the first 20 or so miles that were walking up the first steep climb. And when I started my run, that was the best my legs ever felt going from bike to run. I don't know if it was adrenaline or the cadence and training... maybe a little of both.
