Age Group Rank = 12/15
Pre-race routine:

Trained 2-3 X week for about a month.
Event warmup:

Ferry ride over. Registered, then a short warm up swim before the race briefing.
Swim
  • 36m 18s
  • 1600 meters
  • 02m 16s / 100 meters
Comments:

Really happy with this race. Swam strongly all the way through. Race was just the right challenge for my current fitness level. Was getting tired towards the end but was able to keep going at a steady pace. Happy with navigation.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I did the most training I could given my very time-poor situation (two young clingy children and a husband that works long hours).
Post race
Warm down:

Went to the pub for a late lunch and enjoyed the quiet, child-free time before catching the ferry back home to the chaos that is our life ;-)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Two young clingy children and a husband that works long hours.

Event comments:

Would do it again. Great race. I love Rotto.

Yay Magda!

Sounds lovely. I have a bunch of the swim caps from Kingsley but I'll have to do one of the swims myself sometime!

I first decided I was going to "do" a triathlon in 1994. It wasn't until 13 years later, in 2007 that I actually did. Why did it take me 13 years to get to the starting line? The swim!

Stroke after stroke, my pace was pulling me out into the middle of the lake quickly. The cover seemed to be getting thicker. But still in the distance, the little boathouse was my lighthouse.

Many people in the triathlon world think they need to just emulate Ian Thorpe to have a faster time, or have a similar stroke to Michael Phelps to cruise through the swim. Unfortunately...
