Thanks for the heads-up.

I just ordered a pair today and got the sale price. I have been wanting to try these for awhile and it is hard to beat this price.

Merry Christmas to me

Even better if you are a prime member at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Continental-Grand-4000S-Bicycle-700x23/dp/B00...

$37 seems to be the going price online Amazon.comBackcountry. It's still better than $50 at the LBS.

Probikekit usually has a sale once in a while where if you buy 4 or more, you can get them for around $32 each.  I've taken advantage of this several times over the past 2 years.  Usually just ask some friends to jump in with me and we order the maximum of 10.  Free shipping, but you pay the international transaction fee on your credit card (shows up on your CC statement, not the invoice from PBK...and is usually around 2-3%).  So final cost is usually around $33.50 a tire, but shipping takes about 4 weeks due to customs.

Yeah, seems like vendors/Conti are getting ready for the GP400S II release and possibly are dumping inventory of the current version.  Regardless, I'll take it.
