Subject: 100 club & toenail question

I finally smiled today when djdavey inspired me and welcomed me to the 100 club. I didn't realize it was so select. 3 days later...the pain has greatly subsided and I'm now at a "tolerably sore" level, so I think it's finally sinking in. I have a couple pics in my log, and some short write-ups, but will be writing a real blog post (on my blog) over the next week or so.

Anyway, WHEN do I pop these blood blisters under my toes?! I'm getting conflicting info. The one on the right is especially painful as it's bigger and I can see it outside of the nail bed. My left toe nail was half dead before the race so it's not as bothersome.

I've been told to pop them within 24 hours. (FYI, my only experience with under-the-nail blood is when I've slammed a finger in a door.)

same here...pop immediately I had them under both big toes and both pinkie toes were so blistered they looked like small balloons and I popped them that night, I had to continue to stick a Lancet under the big toe nail for a couple days later and pressing down to relieve the fluid then put antibiotic ointments on them after each time.

I just let mine go away by itself, within a week it was ok but it took 3 months for the nail to fall off.

This is why i pop mine immediately....no pain after and the nail doesnt turn black toe and it pops off within a week, sometimes just a couple days!! AHHHHHHHHH so much better!! Sometimes you have to cut the skin around the bottom to release it but it's already dead after its popped and doesnt hurt at all. The longest one has taken to pop off is about 2 weeks max

I do mine at the first sign of 'that pain.'

Generally I slip a sterilized needle underneath it. Totally painless and feels so good to let the pressure out!

Same. I have had nasty looking toes that don't hurt. And fine looking toes that throb. Doing it the first time was tough for me squeamish me. You probably will have to pop and drain a number of times. You will have near instant relief.

Thanks, y'all! They're feeling better, finally. Well, until my 1 year old niece thought it would be fun to throw a big heavy toy on my big toe....owwwww....

Club or group workouts are very motivating and soon you’ll start feeling like a triathlete, making you less likely to flake out.
