I've done the race before (placed 3rd AG in this past race), but I'm thinking strongly about doing Ironman Texas 70.3 in Galveston which is within 2 weeks of the 2014 date. This year, they moved it to August but don't think they had the participation numbers so I heard they were moving back.

If you've never done it, its a good race. Playtri does a good job. The course is pretty flat with a few "hills" on the bike and one long hill on the run around mile one. The road for the bike is a bit 'choppy' in places but nothing horrible.

I may volunteer in transition/bike in-out depending on what the schedule says for my taper.

Yea, I thought it would be a fairly flat course. And with a pool swim, it won't be too cold. Thought it would be a good experience for my first tri.

It will be. If you don't want to do one that early....look at the Cooper sprint in June/July. 50m pool and a flat course too.

Decided on not doing Ironman Texas 70.3 so I'm in for this race.

My company is a sponsor so I got a free entry.

I'm also gunning for a repeat podium spot.....so all you 35 - 39 M.....look out. I will sabotage if applicable.

Race week....

Anyone in?

Weather looks spotty for the day. Slight chance of rain....but will probably be in low 50's at the time of the race. Depending on wind, the bike may be chilly.

When I told my husband that I planned to work toward completing a sprint triathlon, he smiled and was supportive, but a bit disbelieving.

This plan is designed to make you go faster. 3 workouts per week in each sport, 2 days of strength training and core work. The maximum volume is around 10 hours toward the end of the 12 weeks.

I was passing others who were saying, "Good job, 587" (that was my race number). People were cheering me on. These were the nicest people I have ever been around!

If you haven’t done any bricks yet, this isn’t the time to start piling them on, but here are some examples you could do in the lead up to your race.

Since your “A” race is your marathon, which you stated in your question, this should be your main focus. I encourage you to taper a bit for the sprint distance triathlon.

Since I didn't have much time and since it's a super sprint, am I OK just go to at the training relatively hard through Thursday or even Friday?
