1-People saying how wonderful the full moon is. You know what the full moon gets me?  A bunch of crazy people in my office.  Thank God I am not on call this week
2-People posting about how they don't have to go in to work for the next 2 weeks.  I have to work most holidays and every third weekend. I don't get paid extra, I have to take care of people doing stupid human tricks and miss time with my loved ones.  I have call all next week with ER call m-w-fss.  Merry f-ing Christmas to me.
3-People who demand appts RIGHT NOW then don't show up
4-The last appt of the day no shows.  I sit around for 15 minutes AFTER their scheduled time doing nothing waiting for their stupid selves to manage to get here
5-Pts who think they know more about their injury than me.  Here is a tip. I went to school for 20 years to do this.  If you don't like my answer go find another doctor.
6-That I can't make phone calls to arrange other things in my life before 9am.  I start my day between 6:45 somedays and 8 am on a late day.  When people NO SHOW I can't get a bloody thing done because no one is open yet.

Everyday I jump on the highway by my work to go home and EVERY day someone is in front of me trying to merge 30 MPH under the speed limit. It's a downhill on-ramp. I could get my bike up to 40 MPH, why can't you get your car up that fast!

I can sympathize with this 100%.

I even print the full moon schedule when I go to our 'on call' meetings to decide coverage-ha.

BTW, you need to belong to a bigger group and do less coverage..

If it wasn't for night/weekend/holiday call coverage, I would enjoy my job a lot more.

Now, about 'no shows'...

[opens can of worms:
perhaps we are coming closer to charging people for 'no shows' and calls after hours-our office is discussing it...]

...that is just a complete waste of my time. You would think people would at least have the common courtesy to let you know they won't be coming to a scheduled appointment.

Doctors who make patients that are on time wait for an hour past the `reservation' time.

me too...but unexpected delays do occur-fairly frequently

(although the last time I made a patient wait ~1hr was when I was extremely delayed while rounding- as I had to (unexpectedly) place a temporary pacemaker in one of my hospitilzed patients and was pretty late to the office--when done, I called the office and they were told I'd be late, and every one of my patients waited)

and x3 on whiners, but I'm totally good with a little venting, even if THAT p*sses some people off

My Chiro left me waiting for almost a full hour this week.

My waxer texted me that she was running 15 minutes behind, so I showed up 15 min late. Way better.

I understand doc delays. I would much rather an "emergency" be tended to - and a life saved or something - than my annual check-up. Once my doc made me wait, called me the wrong name, rushed the appointment like crazy - then apologized and told me she was heading straight from my appointment to deliver twins who were super early. I was all "go bring those babbbies into the world!" and completely understood. I would want my doc to make me a priority if I were that mama.

But it would DEFINITELY be nice for some sort of text-alert system if they are running more than 15min behind. Someone should invent that.

- Inconsiderate commuters (usually tourists) - I could write many paragraphs detailing the ways they irritate me...but I won't. You're welcome.
- Overly aggressive drivers, particularly the people who drive past the whole line of cars waiting to exit, only to nudge in at the last moment.
- People who write cryptic, dramatic, pity-seeking statuses on Facebook.
- People who are intolerant of other people's cultures.
- The Dutch.

I did find it curious that once I was the doctors FIRST PATIENT OF THE DAY.  And still waited 20 minutes past my appt. time...

Maybe they just start the day off 30 minutes behind and that just trickles through the whole day.

My mom -- "has" to move to a cheaper apartment (meaning smaller), and doesn't want to get rid of anything. And to top it off, she's known for a good month the approximate move date. When we get there to move her $h!t, she has all of 10 small boxes packed. If that.

Some people are late ALL THE TIME.  I HATE being late.  Seriously.  Unless I got stuck in the OR or had some other disaster I am always on time probably 99% of the time.  When my entire schedule shows up in the same 1 hour time block despite their appt time I can't recover from that because I can only see people one at a time. I think its rude to make the pts wait but that is just my opinion and I know many many doctors don't run that way.  And ONE crazy person wil throw my whole day in the toilet

If you develop a strategy for the off-season, you can go into the next season stronger than you ended the past season.
