Linda - go out there and have the best day ever.

Quite the scene/feel coming into Boston today, even if I'm going to work. Media presence everywhere, banners on every light pole, groups of runners waiting for busses to Hopkington for the start. Its incredible.

I'll be following you online today. hope everyone else gets a chance, as well.

Kicked butt at the pool today -- 3100 yards, and it felt good. Haven't been swimming in 1.5 weeks, but it felt good to get back at it. Nice run yesterday as well, topping 7 miles and enjoying the (at last!!) spring weather with a run along the ocean. It was awesome.

Go Linda!!!! Let the stalking party begin What a cool experience running w/ Bart Yasso! Glad you are making the most out of the experience.

Mike, nice feel good workout by the ocean. Good reward for your indoor time spent on trainer and treadmill.

Carl, happy tapers to you!

Will try to catch up more later.

Great to see Meb win!!

LOL, Mike, I'm betting Linda already knew we're a bit nuts before today .

Funny, I'm not much of a sports fan...tend to zone out or read when football, baseball, etc. is on TV, but this one draws me in for sure.

WooHoo, Linda!!!!!!! So proud of you! It was a great finish time. Now I want to know, did you have fun? Sure do hope so. Can't....wait....for.....race....report.

I couldn't believe my good fortune today. Long meeting and got out about 11:45. Checked baa.org to see if I could see the newsfeed and lo and behold, the live coverage wasn't blocked from work!!!! Saw split screen of Meb way in front and Rita way in front. Decided to take my 30 min lunch right then and there so I could watch. Nail biter for Meb and I was screaming for him to not turn around cuz was so afraid he might trip (Has anyone seen the Rotterdam coverage? Two major falls that I know of.) What an awesome finish for both. Dang, Rita was flying. Got whole coverage recorded tho and will watch it tonight. Want to see what the announcers were alluding to re Shalane's push. Bless her heart, I wanted her (or Desiree) to win or place but dang, Rita seems like an awesome person. At least she is an awesome athlete.

Speaking of coverage, we just changed our tv provider and now have the channel that is constantly covering marathons, tris, and cycling. We were so excited. But it may turn out to be a bad thing tho because we have it on too much - way too much. Way, way, way too much.

Linda, again Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are a superstar!! Kick back and enjoy Boston until you return home. And then write that RR pronto so I can read it.

Linda, hope the hip is ok and that you enjoyed the big race. Sorry that your time was not what you had hoped. You can be very proud of that training build up that was epic. We are all proud of you and finishing a marathon is finishing a marathon, grats for being part of history at Boston. Rest well. .

Was not near a computer for most of the day yesterday but did manage to stalk some.

Linda - Awesome! Looking forward to the race report.

I am off work, taking care of y daughter and cleaning around the house . Of course my wife knows I am fitting in some great WO's too. Although yesterday was not my best feeling day I did fit in a run and swim. Ta-ta. Time to bike.

Pam, I think you and I shared a similar experience. I don't have meetings in prison but we do get a break after we do the major counts. In my case, I finished my count around the same time as you and started watching the race on the local channel here in Boston. I saw Flanagan ahead before the count (yes, I peaked while the inmates were out!).....then I saw 5 woman all bunched up (waiting for count to be called)......by 11:45, the winner had stepped up and distanced herself from everyone else. I also saw Meb win...which was awesome. I was disappointed for Flanagan......you could see her disappointment in postrace interviews....she wanted so badly to win for the city....she grew up about 20-30 minutes north of Boston in Marblehead. The local sports radio shows mentioned that Meb had the 4 individuals that were killed last year written on each corner of his bib....pretty cool stuff. I'm not sure if I'm alone in this but I would've found it great to have American winners in both the mens and womans race.....it would've seemed fitting to me.

I can't wait for Linda to post her RR and her pics on her FB page

Joe: I'm noticing that you're very quietly starting to get on a roll with your training.....keep it up!

I'm fired up to train today but it won't be until later. Kids are on school vacation and my wife will be getting an award from UMass Dartmouth today for the work she did with a class last semester. I think those are some okay reasons to wait until later today to get my workout in!

A few sore legs at the office today -- I think we had 3 runners from our office go. Best time of anyone was 3:40 or so. These folks are easy to spot -- shuffling to/from the water coolers around the office .

Linda -- hope you are feeling well, and enjoy the city today if you are hanging about.

Went for a very nice ride this morning. Took a route that I haven't done in a long time. Out to the observation area at the airport, then to the lake, and back up our historic Main Street. Only 23 miles, but I feel like I've been on vacation! My riding buddy is laid up with a shoulder injury and I've been hesitant to strike out by myself beyond the less interesting route that I always ride. I really owe it to Mike...was wanting to check it out for when he visits since it shows off some of the nicer parts of our city. So thanks Mike!

Glad I could help, Carol

Who should I call about a rental? I'm staying in Southlake town center.

I'd recommend Bicycles, Inc. (they have a store now in Southlake). I've rented from their store in Hurst before and that is also where I bought my Madone. Mostly Trek and Specialized models. http://bicyclesinc.com/storelocator/southlake-4.htm

Bicycles Plus is not as close (Coppell), but they do rent road bikes...they carry mostly Trek & Cannondale: http://www.bicyclesplustx.com/rentals.html

A couple of the more boutique type shops -- Knobbies & Slicks http://www.knobbiesandslicks.com/blogs/newsor and Mad Duck Cyclery http://www.madducksports.com/ might have something, but seems like when I checked with them before they don't do any rentals.

With the coming of the New Year, athletes commonly think about making nutrition resolutions. Good thing, given only 3 to 4% of Americans follow all of the established Dietary Guidelines.
