29 degrees?  That must have been heavenly!  Did you remember your sunscreen?

We have hit record lows, similar to everyone else in the northern states, i believe the lowest i seen was around -14.  Needless to say I stuck to the dreadmill and did not complain 1 bit.  Thankfully the temp starts going up tomorrow and by Sunday will be above 40, I may need the sunscreen that day.

How is everyone doing? Pace rabbit is at 27.4 miles. Where are you? I'm behind.

I see that we have some overachiever's (one is my husband).

Matt, I'm thin skinned too regarding the cold. Now, don't make fun of me because I'll dish it back to you during the summer when people start complaining about it being hot at 70 or 80 degrees. ;-) It's always fun for me when I leave work and the temp is 107 and then I need to get my run in.

You're running circles around that rabbit.

I'm cruising along at 61 miles.  I hope I can keep this up.  These last few days have been tough.  Had an 8 mile run in the wind and rain last night.  I HATE wind.  I cannot imagine how nice it would be to run on a warm, sunny day.

Haha

Yeah the wind has been tough. We had to do a modified pace for the wind on Wednesday night it was so significant.

Whew, thought I was behind at 34 miles for the year. I guess I am in comparison to you all!

Did 6 last night in that wind/rain, definitely no fun.

yep, and I will be the 1st one to complain about a 80 degree run and quickly move to after dark runs!

as for the pace rabbit, I am slightly ahead, currently at 30 miles!

104 miles 10 days into the month is crazy, I am amazed someone can run that much and not get injured. I would be on the ground in a pile of goo begging for mercy!

I'm a slow starter at 8.5km .  Considering I was injured at this point last year, I'm ok with this.  Have a great weekend everyone!

33 miles including today's run. For the winter months I plan to stay very close to the pace bunny. My tracking spreadsheet comparing actual versus goal distance puts me right on track at 101%. Then I'll switch to a training plan that ramps my mileage up a bit in the spring.

Nice running everyone. I enjoy seeing what you guys are doing.

10 miles today, a little over fifty so far.
The sun peeked out today in Memphis and stayed! Great running weather and my puppies got a walk to their great delight!

I'm a little behind, with today's run I'm at 27.76 miles for the year. I'm really pleased with that since I'm building my mileage up right now!

I guess I need to get my act together and post.

8 runs, 25 miles so far this year...on pace for about 70 this month.  Most of it has been treadmill, unfortunately.

I've found that lots of shorter runs works better for me than trying to cram the mileage into 2-3 runs/week, so I'm getting in about 5/week.

Oh, come on...I mean, she did like 20 of those in one day for goodness' sakes, so the other 12 days aren't NEARLY as impressive.

I'm in!
1. Jeff (jeffschulte0176)
2. I am 30 years old with a wife and three kids. ( 5 year old boy, 3 year old boy, and 18 month old girl. ) I have many hobbies and things that I love to do mostly anything that involves being active and outside.(Running, Biking, lifting, tri's, snowmobiling, snow skiing, water skiing, four wheeling, golf, you name it I love to do it.
3. I started working out and getting in shape about 5 years ago after my son was born and we had a couple deaths in the family due to health issues. At that point my wife and I decided to make a change. In 2010 I ran a half marathon, olympic tri, then a half ironman, in 2011 I ran a full marathon and another half ironman. Once our second child started on the move time became very limited for me so I have not done any races since. Now most of my training is either at 430am in the basement (or in the dark outside) or with my wife at the YMCA.

I have never gotten close to 1000 miles but this year I have a treadmill and no excuses so hopefully I can just stay healthy.

Right now I am at 36.5 miles.

Hi. I am Kelly. In my 50's. Female, married to a non-runner.... Run a bit but am stepping my mileage back on advice from triathletes. I kind of got burned out last year on just running so am adding bike and swim this year.

I am starting to get my love affair back for running especially now that I am hearing the stories of fellow runners here. It motivates me to get out there. This January has been a slow start for accumulating mileage because my family and everyone around town has gotten hit with the flu. So, my miles are just at 34 for the month.

Thank you everyone for being such great motivators and helping my to love running again!

I'm in. I'm already doing a consecutive days running streak, so this shouldn't be too much of a problem I hope, barring injury.

1. My name is Brad - MSU_Brad. I'm a big Michigan State Spartans fan.
2. I'm 40, single, no kids. I like to race quite a bit throughout the summer months, always looking for something to challenge myself with. I'm in sales in Michigan. I *hate* cold, so I am an idiot for living here.
3. I have historically been a terrible runner. I do very well in the swim, pretty well in the bike, and then people start passing me on the run. I've been putting a lot more focus in to it this last year in order to improve. Have had a couple of setbacks, starting with a bad strained calf muscle in the middle of a race last summer and then an ongoing bout of light Achilles tendonitis which I am trying to mitigate by watching my distance and eliminating speed work. So far so good, and I am slowly building distance back in to my routine. When I run today, it will be 171 straight days of running. I plan on being over 100 miles each month, so the 1000 for the year shouldn't be too big of a problem.

I'll try to update near the end of each month.

Welcome to our new people! This is shaping up to be a great group. Looking forward to getting to know everyone in 2014.

The pace rabbit is at 43.84. So many of you are doing great and are well ahead! If you are behind, don't worry because we have 49+ weeks to catchup. I am behind right now at 33.3 miles. I hope to catch up to the rabbit this weekend and then I'll probably fall behind again while recovering. But then I hope that I can keep pace with the rabbit thru the spring.

Keep up the good work everyone.

I am right on pace for the 1000 and slightly off pace for my target.  But as Karl stated we have a few weeks to be able to make up the distance.  And since consistency is key sometimes it better to take a few steps back so you can go several miles forward.  This past weekend I completed back to back trail runs with an 8 mile race on Saturday (won my AG, woohoo!) then a 12.5 mile race on sunday where I was closer to last place than I was 1st place.  There was so much mud in both races it was just ridiculous.

If your bored here is a 2m time lapse of an 8 mile race, its a little blurry but still viewable.

I saw this challenge and was very interested and then I see a couple familiar faces! Although Iam late and have some " catching up" to do Count me in!
Iam only at 17.5 miles so far but this will definetly keep me motivated.

My name is JoAnne (Jo) Iam 50, own a salon with 15 employees who keep me on my toes. Married for 30 years with 3 grown kids. One in law school, one works with me, and another who is a financial advisor.

I have been doing triathalons off and on for 7 years I never seemed to be consistent and have always seemed to let things get in my way and hold me up I am working on changing that. This years goal is to finish IM Wisconsin, I attempted in 2012 and didn't finish. The most I ran in a year was 657, so I have some work to do.

I think quite truly for the first time I 'get it'. It's not just about the fitness. It's not just about the great little endorphin rush as you hit 5, 10, 15 miles...its not just the medal at the end.
