This ace in 2010 was my first half. The year that the heat index was about 112 F. I am going back for revenge! Anyone else?

I'm in.  I did it last year and the wife and I made a long weekend out of the trip.  She advised me that I would be doing the race next year (2014), since she had such a good time.  Not much in the way of heat last year, but damn it was a muddy, mucky, mess in transition.

I'm in! This will be my first time doing this race, although not my first HIM. I hope it's not too hot!

I can't believe, or rather I can believe, but was kind of annoyed, that the host hotel was almost $400/night! Ended up booking at a Best Western 15M away instead since there wasn't much else to choose from. I just can't rationalize spending that much on a hotel unless I'm on an actual vacation and even then, that's pushing it...

I'm also in! Being an upstater, I'm a bit nervous about doing a tri that's supposed to be so flat and hot! For those who have done it before, is it usually wetsuit legal or illegal?

I've only done it once (last year), but it was wetsuit legal.

I'm in this year for my second HIM. Fingers crossed for not TOO hot.

I too was shocked by the cost of the host hotel and the unavailability of hotels in the area, given that I started looking for a hotel back in November. I ended up in a Holiday Inn in Easton.

I'm in and first time for HIM.  Signed up last year but blew out my calf and couldn't go. I'll take the blame for the heat this year.  After I realized I couldn't go last year I made the claim it wouldn't be hot in '13 but when I go back next year it will be boiling.  I don't do well in the heat.

It was wetsuit legal last year but barely, led to a warmer swim than some might like.

For those who want another option, I stayed at a B&B last year and it was the best decision I could have made. Granted I was about 10 miles out but it was well worth it and very relaxing.

Not trying to start any rumors or fires here but I heard tonight that Tri Columbia is planning to cancel all of their 2014 races including Eagleman. A friend who I was working out with tonight at the gym is signed up for Columbia and Eagleman and told me they are both getting cancelled. He was trying for a KQ this year at EM and seemed pretty bummed about it. I think its way too early for an April Fools prank and when I went on Tri Columbia's website, it did not seem active.

Again, not trying to start anything but I was wondering if anyone on hear heard the same thing or not??

I hope it still goes on and is cool for you guys this year

There is talk about it on ST. Hope its not true, that would be a total let down. Lots of $$$$ on travel and rental. Dang....

Just went and read the thread on ST. Definitely worrisome, although I suppose I'll wait until any problems are officially announced to get too worked up about it. I was planning on driving there and my hotel appears to allow for free cancellation at the moment, so I'd only be risking loss of my registration fee. I suppose there's also the fact that I've also been using a coach for the past few months. I like him, but I probably wouldn't have hired him if not for signing up for this race. Hopefully, if something really is going on, they'll let us all know ASAP so we can make other plans for the season.

I posted this on the thread in the main triathlon discussion page but I think it's relevant here:

FWIW, I heard it's still going to be on but will be run by a Ironman instead of TriColumbia. My coach convinced me to do this race initially and is a pro who is also racing it. When I heard all this news I asked him about it and he told me that the pro's all received an email saying Ironman bought it and "don't worry, you'll be racing it". If this is true then good news for all of us already invested in it!
