I'm not local to the area, but did the race last year. It's really in the middle of nowhere. The "official bike shop" of the race is Santos Bike Shop. Looking at the website it looks like they have a Giant road bike for rental http://santosbikeshop.com/rental-bikes/.Are you flying from LA specifically for this race? Are you flying into Ocala or another town/city?

I didn't go into the shop while I was there but drove by and it looks kinda small. Might want to try renting in Orlando. Don't know any shops in Orlando either, but I'd imagine you'd have a better selection.

I have been using Santos Bike Shop for a few years. They are pretty active with the triathlon community and hold workshops once a month. They should be able to help you.

What distance are you planning to race? What size bike so you need?

I have a four week gap between the end of my sprint program and the beginning of my Olympic plan. Is it ok to just keep adding the volume needed to begin the Olympic plan?

I read somewhere about "bar ends" to put on your handle bars, do you recommend them? Is this similar to adding clip on aero bars?

Already a cyclist and not a bad swimmer, I figured all I had to do was build up to running a few miles and I’d be ready to go. The challenge invigorated me, and I ran out to buy new running shoes.

My thinking was that with three events, I could vary my training enough so it wouldn't grow stale prior to seeing positive results and finding the additional motivation I needed to continue training.

I couldn't believe that my splits kept getting lower! I started to run harder after I passed the "5 km" sign and picked a few people that I wanted to pass.

If you develop a strategy for the off-season, you can go into the next season stronger than you ended the past season.
