Pre-race routine:

Had a swim. Water temp was warmer than outside so I just stayed in until the wave start.

Bit of a splash, nothing much as I wasn't concerned.

These things are good for getting some confidence back. I was too late to the line to line up at the front again so I had to fight my way through a little.
Fact is that was actually not a bad idea, because I got to have a fight through the pack without getting nervous about getting hit. I breathed well in the chop and it was the first ocean swim I've felt comfy in for a long time.
Little victories.
What would you do differently?:

Try to get at the front. Fact is I can out of the water in the top 5. I only got tenth because people overtook me running out of the water. Have some confidence.

I saved myself a little on the first half because I knew I'd have a cracker of a headwind on the way back, and it paid off. I caught and passed everyone in my AG that had overtaken me bar one :)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Went well. I need to get a little faster though but was still a good ride for me AG in the end.

I have always been an athlete, growing up playing team sports like basketball and soccer. I also ran in a couple of 10K races every year, so I had no reason to worry about running a 5K...right?

After I left the running store, I couldn't stop thinking about the sprint tri and how much of a challenge it would be for me. So instead of joining a gym, I started riding my bike and it felt great.
