The race was fantastic. I thought the level of difficulty for the bike was about right. The run was tough but I will take extra hills for the shade and exceptional support from the crowd. Obviously there will be a few complaints but for the most part I thought the race was very well organized.
The bike course sucked but it was my first IM so I have nothing to compare it to as far as other 112 mile bike legs. Other than that this race was awesome I look forward to running it again next year!
It was literally seconds after I started swimming that I felt the tightness in my chest. I couldn’t get a deep breath in due to the tightness of my wetsuit. I was being strangled by my wetsuit...
Now, for the last 20 years I’ve always though that jogging seemed about as interesting as watching paint dry, and you know what? That’s how it turned out to be.
It makes no sense to train hard for a year to hone that aerobic system only to have all that training undermined by a few anaerobic bursts on race day. So, how do you go about it?
Byrn won’t hold your hand through the long hours and miles required finishing or for success in an IM, he can only show you how to get there. The work is up to you.
