Subject: HIM on my Cervelo s2
Anyone currently training as well as racing on a s2? I will be doing my first HIM on my 2011 and was looking for suggestions or personal opinions on dialing this bike in for tri.
Thanks,

Wes

I went to the local bike shop and got fit for the aerobar position. The result on my first road bike was a new stem and the Profile Design T1 aerobar setup. On my second road bike I got a Retul fit (which will really dial you in for the TT position) and I ended up with a FF seatpost and PD T2+ aerobars. Getting fit was key for me in both cases but it wasn't simply a matter of bolting on aerobars. It was having a professional fitter work with me, ask a lot of questions, then making recommendations. I saw the biggest gains going from road position to aerobars, 21 mph sprint average speed to nearly 23 mph OLY average speed with approx. 1,000 miles in the saddle between the sprint and oly races.

Also, some frame geometries may not lend themselves to optimal TT positions.

If you get fit, make sure you tell them (they SHOULD ask you) what distance you're going for.

Thanks for the feedback! On my list for now are some clip-on aerobars, new seat, and possibly a forward facing seat post. Any other suggestions?

I have a Cervelo S2 that I use for cycling crits, roadraces and training on,that I then convert over to use for Tri's and TT. The S2/S3 adapts to road or TT positions with a two-position seat post that is available and adding clip on bars. The bike is still stable in road or TT unlike many road bikes that get twitchy in the TT position. Here is my conversion process 1) remove road seat post and saddle and replace with two-position seat post with tri saddle mounted in forward position. 2) Remove 3T- 80 mm +6 degree up stem and replace with a 3T- 120mm -6 degree down stem. 3) Add Profile Design T2+ Cobra clipons. I have two seatpost/saddles so I dont need to keep adjusting my saddle position/adjustments. I made sure the deraileur and brake cables were long enough to move between the road and tri positions. I can usually make this swap in under 30 minutes.

The wheels are my first area of concern and I have started to shop around. I find it nauseating to think of spending the same amount for wheels as my bike. Any help?
