Subject: RE: Race Registration Fees (You get what you pay for) Originally posted by velocompI've raced the big and small races here in CO. And have had mixed results with quality. I think it comes down to Promoter and experience. An promoter can put on a cheap race and do it really well if they know their environment. A cheap race can be as high of quality easily as a high price race if the group putting on the race knows what they are doing and coordinates well. This. I disagree with the OPs original statement. I am sure he knows of two races that fit his view, but he's not looking hard enough if he can't find some great, well-run races for much less. Many smaller, less expensive races that I do are FAR better in amenities than the bigger races, There is a cost to being big, so a 'cheap' race with 2,000+ athletes would definitely worry me. But a cheap race with 200 athletes would not set off any immediate alarms as to the potential quality. |
