Foot Injury?

Hi, I have a problem with the ball of my foot which hurts every time I tread like stepping on a stone. I have seen a podiatrist who wasn't very helpful, made me two pairs of orthotics neither has helped.
I have just come out of hospital after 8 months during this time my foot has been rested apart from short walks between wards.
I am desperate to start getting my fitness back and can't run, has anyone please heard of this or have any ideas about treat ten or management
