Subject: Hill training advice
Hi just started after 18 month break, I've read a lot about hill repeats being a great way to boost training.
Could do with some guidance as to short and v steep? Long and challenging? Achievable with a struggle?
Advice greatly appreciated
Also should I try and get up them as fast as possible?

Are you asking about biking or running? Or both?

My advice would be to focus on slow easy efforts and a high level of consistency until your body is used to training again. Give it at least 2 months before you start doing any speed work or strength work (hills are strength work).

A lot of people come back after a long break from the sport and think they can jump back in where they left off. This often results in injuries. You need to rebuild your base first.
