Pre-race routine:

I didnt harbor thoughts of not racing! That's a positive. Rode down to transition and set up with just enough time before it closed.
Event warmup:

The bay was calm, I felt awesome in my warm up swim. It was a 47 min wait until our AG started.

Comments:

My swim came together this week. Felt good pretty much the whole way, navigation was on target and when I passed the last buoy I went for it. Easily the best conditions we've had this season. Makes a huge difference to my swimming.
Transition 1
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

Just happy that I didn't keel over. I'd been a little dizzy a few days prior.
Suit always gets stuck on my heels. Baby oil for my ankles next season!
Bike

Comments:

I had a Giant Trinity tri bike on loan for this race. Apparently a huge time difference! I haven't average 30km/hr on the bike at all this season. Again it may have something to do with no wind! I felt a little slow getting up to speed and into my shoes, but came good and the ride was uneventful. I got held up at a turnaround, but really I'm not sure it made that much difference.
Transition 2
  • 02m 29s
Comments:

Long run into transition and out. All went smoothly.

Comments:

For the most part I felt good. Friends were on the course for a surprise cheer. I was a little frustrated that I hadn't set my garmin up properly and as a result had no idea how fast I was running. Sometimes seeing the pace helps me push a little harder, but it is what it is. I lost a couple of places, but thats my run for you.
Post race
Warm down:

Last race of the season and it was awesome to have some supporters there. Walked home after the race because I had to give the Trinity back. Sad face.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

With my fitness etc I'm happy enough. Having the Garmin set up properly may have helped a little but onwards and upwards. I enjoyed racing in the awesome conditions. A real treat this season!

Great conditions, friends, good swim, fun bike - WIN!

Congrats on what sounds like a great race and a terrific day.

As for the Garmin, I can't tell you how many times "operator error" has jumped up and bitten me on race day!

The 112/4 Race Rehearsal Brick. If done correctly, the RR is usually no more stressful than a regular training ride, and that is probably the point.
