Pre-race routine:

1 poptart and some perform with a bit of coffee but not too much.

Kinvara2s, ultra shorts, compression top with long sleeve tech and gloves.

Event warmup:

Light jogging, strip down to shorts.

Run
  • 39m 18s
  • 10 kms
  • 03m 56s  min/km
Comments:

Have been running big volume last few months - but took no days off or reduction for this race. Felt really good, and while I finished with nothing left in the tank, I was able to eat brunch and go run 15km more afterwards. Not very stiff the next day either.
What would you do differently?:

Ran an even split race, with only about 4-5 sec variance except for last lap.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched properly this time, and then went in for the huge buffet/brunch they put on.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Middle of marathon training cycle.

Event comments:

Again with the prizes and draws - 2 bikes, 1 trip for two anywhere Westjet flies, and 100s of $ of gift certs. Huge fancy brunch as well!

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had weight issues. I remember standing on the scale as a child weighing 60 pounds and feeling fat. My family dealt with stress by eating.
