Subject: RE: Original LED light vest Looked up their product, the specs say that the 12 LEDs put out 60,000 mcd (millicandella ) of light. Usually bike light companies use lumen for light.
I think that converts to about 100 lumen, swagging the beam angle at 90 degrees.
That's on the high end of the range for LED headlamps, BUT they tend to have more of a spot mode, so I think you'd get more intensity over a smaller area with a headlamp. I've run and mountain bike both on and off road with headlamps, they're nice since the beam is where you're looking all the time.
It seems the vest would also get shadows from your arms/hands as you run, which I would think would be annoying if you need the light to not trip or fall over anything. Also the light would be where your torso is aiming, though it would be more of a flood light (as they call it, a puddle )
I'd consider a vest for being-seen, but not to be able to see.
