Outdoor track open to public

I use the track at the Blake School at the corner of Excelsior Blvd and Blake Rd, but usually in the late afternoon or early evening after work. The other tracks that I have looked at in the West metro seem to get locked up when not in use. You might have to work around any possible gym or sports team use.

You can get the key for the Southwest High School in Minneapolis from the adjacent park building. Bring your ID, check out the key, use the track. Easy peasy.

Yep, if you live/work in the area this is pretty solid gold. Not to thread hijack but does anyone know the Southwest pool usage policy?

The Edina Community Center has a track that is unlocked and open to the public. It's where Edina High School teams practice/compete.

I have been using the track at Macalester. St. Thomas is also open, I have emailed them and as long as no events are being held it is open. Macalester will be redoing the track starting June 2 so I might be looking at other options.

Have you found one yet Mr. Dailey? Armstrong is locked. Going to check Wayzata Central Middle School tonight. I doubt that Wayzata high school is open but haven't checked.

From a couple of friends, it sounds like the Benilde track is open. Also a track is open in Edina, but I don't know which one yet.

I haven't located one yet, but haven't gone out of my way to try to find one. I doubt I'd make the effort to drive to a track to run anyway. It can be done on a treadmill almost as easily, though obviously without the benefit of being  outside. 

Bloomington Jefferson track is open.

Wayzata central should be open the entire day, but be wary of sports events. The highschool track is not open due to XC practice and I believe they are repaving and repainting the track itself
