If you didn't get the email, they are offering an OWS clinic the week before the race.  They did this last year too and it's a great chance to practice on the swim course.  They make you sit through a mariginal class but it's the only chance to swim in the lake where they hold the race.

Heard from someone that did the swim today, lake temp is currently 78 degrees, and the lake is kinda slimy.

Question for the Reston vets out there, since the website is a little sparse on information, and I can't find anywhere on the website w/what I'm looking for.

-- When does transistion open?
-- Bodymarking will be down at T1?
-- Any obvious hazards one should be on the lookout for when getting from T2/parking over to T1? (I'm not going to ride it, I have enough balance problems, add on a transition bag, and I'll crash before things even get going.)

Thanks!

Hey Cindy,

I'm not sure when transition opens up but they will tell you at packet pickup which is Saturday from 11 to 3.   I don't remember where they did body marking.  When you get to the High School, you check in, get your chip and setup T2.  They may have done the body marking then.  Last year, I brought a flashlight and rode my bike down to the swim course.   A lot of people walked to the swim start, about 3/4s of a mile.  They give you a plastic bag that you mark with your race number to put your wetsuit and swim stuff in.  At the end of the race, they have all that stuff up at T2 location.

Tips:  Bring a flashlight, a highlighter, and mark all your swim stuff with your name.

OK, one last "I've never done Reston before and I forgot to ask the RD" question.

On the swim, I know it's basically a half-mile rope that you go out/around/back. However - is there any kind of actual marker at the end of that half mile? (I would really, REALLY hate to overshoot the turnaround, I'm slow enough without adding extra yards!)

Good luck to everybody running Reston this year! There's going to be a Reston Sprint starting next season, so I hope to do that one.
