Setup Events

Sunny
Total Time = 2h 38m 8s
Overall Rank = 102/319
Age Group = M35-39
Age Group Rank = 11/22
Pre-race routine:

Had a turf war with transition neighbor.
Event warmup:

Lots of venting.
Swim
  • 32m 53s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 11s / 100 meters
Comments:

Lots of jostling for position in the beginning. Never really got into the clear - always seemed to be within the crowd. Water was mostly murky, what you would expect from the Chesapeake.
Transition 1
  • 02m 15s
Bike
  • 1h 09m 23s
  • 24 miles
  • 20.75 mile/hr
Comments:

Very little fatigue coming off the bike. Brick training has helped a lot.
What would you do differently?:

Set GPS on computer earlier, had trouble acquiring position on the move.
Transition 2
  • 00m 57s
Comments:

Had the 3rd fastest time in age group in T2.
Run
  • 52m 41s
  • 10 kms
  • 05m 16s  min/km
Comments:

Half pavement, half gravel road. Should be a timing mat for turnaround.
What would you do differently?:

Really need to work on leg turnover and pushing myself harder on the run.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around a lot. Got fuel.

Event comments:

Great race, pretty well organized. Having a USAT official at the event was helpful!. Also, I appreciated the middle school administrator with the old Trek who helped mediate between said neighbor and I.

Knowing where the fluids are, how they will fit on your bike, how much to reach for, and when to reach for it should be understood prior to ever setting foot on the course.
