Overall Rank = 73/90
Age Group = Females
Age Group Rank = 22/30
Pre-race routine:

Hung out with Team Frenette and Danielle, complained about the wind, the usual.
Event warmup:

A little stretching, but not much as usual.
Swim
  • 11m
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 45s / 100 yards
Comments:

I thought my time was going to be a lot better than this. I've been swim-training a lot, I swam the whole way steadily, didn't hyperventilate, breathed bilaterally, and even drafted behind a good pair of feet on the last 200 in.
What would you do differently?:

I don't know :(
Transition 1
  • 00m
Bike
  • 37m 35s
  • 12 miles
  • 19.16 mile/hr
Comments:

Everything was going fine until the 2nd loop of the bike when it started to POUR. I couldn't see a damn thing because I wasn't wearing sunglasses and the rain was stinging my eyes. I had one hand on my bars and one shielding my face from the rain. I'm still happy with my performance, and I know I would have a new PB if it hadn't rained.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing,
Transition 2
  • 00m
Run
  • 31m 27s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 09m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

In the last Lake T race I did I died on the run, so my goal this time was to do better, and I did. I ran up all the hills and concentrated on steady breathing and putting one foot in front of the other. I was able to finish strong, so I'm happy with this run.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Put on dry clothes and packed up, then off to Panera with C, Rob, and Meredith.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Rain, not being a great swimmer/runner.

Event comments:

Just another night at the Lake!

Well done, Polly!

Don't be so hard on yourself about the swim. That wind made it tough getting out to the buoy.

Nice work!

Polly—given the weather issues, you did great! If it had been a nicer day, you would have PRd for sure. The wind definately affected your swim and wind and rain on the bike most definately slowed you down.

Nice work!!

The swim will come - yesterday was exactly what you needed for Cranberry. Crossing my fingers that it's wetsuit legal.

Nice bike ride

Polly...nice race but bummer about the rain!

Great improvements on the swim...it will continue to get better.

Looks like we are almost exactly the same time for my last Lake T and yours...will make the Firmman race much more interesting.....I think it time for you to rest and not train anymore

Nice race Polly...looks like good even splits right across.  Even with the rain, still pretty impressive!

nice race Polly.  I've heard that this series is a fun one.  Maybe some day I'll make it out there.
