It was touch and go all week, wasn't sure I could go through with it having been diagnosed with iron defficiency on Wednesday. But I ploughed through it and although the time is nothing to be proud of, I did it in 1:51 and I wasn't DFL (I did get a DFL silver medal though )

Next time (probably next year, same race) I will do so much better!

Thanks BT, got a lot of very valuable advice from this site!

Congratulations!

Good luck with getting the iron deficiency sorted as well.

Congratulations, Triathlete!

The first race is always a great learning experience.

Well done.

Thanks! I guess I can stop calling myself a TRY athlete!

It feels great now, nicely tired!

Trust me, it will be WAY easier when you have enough iron/red blood cells in your system!

Yes, that's the main thing I intend to improve on next time. Along with tweaking my bike and taking less time in transition.

Feels great! When I crossed the finishing line I said, never again. 10 minutes later I thought, well I can do this again next year. Now I'm thinking, is there a race not too far from here I could do this year?

I have always been an athlete, growing up playing team sports like basketball and soccer. I also ran in a couple of 10K races every year, so I had no reason to worry about running a 5K...right?
