Swim
  • 06m 29s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 37s / 100 yards
Comments:

The swim wasn't much of a swim. Most people ran through the water for 50% of it.
Kind of weird to be swimming and see someone running in the water when you turn to breath.
What would you do differently?:

Run with the pack.
Transition 1
  • 02m 38s
Comments:

So slow compared to those who had finish times around mine. Really need to work on speeding these up. Shaving time off of these makes a bigger difference than i previously thought.
What would you do differently?:

Attach shoes to pedals pre-race, go sock less.
Bike
  • 51m 33s
  • 15 miles
  • 17.46 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt good on the bike, in hindsight i wish i would have gone harder. In my head i said to leave some for the run, but for my first tri im not disappointed.
What would you do differently?:

Go harder on the bike, and go on a bigger gear and a lower cadence.
Transition 2
  • 01m 24s
Comments:

Not a bad transition, but again need to get faster. Also ended up tipping over on my left side at the dismount line because my left shoe wouldn't unclip, need to work on that.
What would you do differently?:

Dismount with shoes still clipped in, would have saved a lot of time.
Run
  • 21m 16s
  • 5 kms
  • 04m 15s  min/km
Comments:

Started off too slow on the first mile. As with the bike i wish i would have gone harder. Still happy with the time, but i think a 20:15/20:30 5k would have been easily doable.
What would you do differently?:

Go harder.
Post race
Warm down:

Crossed the finish line and found Mckenzie. Got some water then went to the med tent for a bandaid.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

For my first tri i wanted to try and have fun yet still go hard. In hindsight i know i could have gone harder, but now i know what i need to work on!

Event comments:

Swim isn't much of a swim, not the organizers fault i just wish it would have been deeper. Good race for my first tri though!

Congrats on finishing the first one. This was my first 3 years ago and you are right, the "swim" is interesting.

Killer time for a first go at it mate. Good luck on your next one!

Have fun at High Cliff just be ready for an entirely different animal. It is a true open water swim in Lake Winnebago and don't blow yourself up on the hill when you head out. Manitowoc/Two Rivers Y is a great event at the end of August if the water warms up.
