I am looking to try a few group rides, I have looked at some of the LBS rides and Erik's (I think) has a few listed with "Drop bars only" am I excluded with aero bars? I have modified road, with aero bar shifters, I can ride the drops just need to reach out to shift. Also any good rides? I am looking to keep a 18MPH+ pace, as I think that's my comfort right now, and looking to get faster. I find swimming, and running a faster rabbit works great to motivate me to move just a bit quicker. That only works until I am the rabbit, then I need to revisit my life.

I see that you are in AV....On Monday & Thurs there are group rides out of Michaels Cycles in Prior Lake - People congregate around 6:00p and we leave around 6:05/6:10

There are different levels of abilities:

A: 20mph+
B: 18-20
C: <18

Both B & C are no drop, where the A group does not employee this rule

As far as your bike set up, I think you are fine....I ride my Tri bike exclusively, and stay out of aero when riding in the pack, but drop to aero when I am pulling

Let me know if you are planning on heading out, and I will keep my eye out for you

Q - what does the MPH for A, B, C rides refer to? Average cruising speed on the flats or overall ride average factoring in slowing down for corners, lights, wind and hills, etc.

Overall riding avg....there are times where the A group will be going 22-24,ph+, which is somewhat dictated by the individual pulling, but there is also the peloton effect, so as long as someone can maintain a 20-21mph avg for 25-35 miles, they will be fine in the A group.

Not to toot my own horn, but there have been times where I have felt good and riden away from the group, and waited for them at the next known turn...so, if you feel good on any given day, then go for it

Do you now have to pay to hook up w/ Great Scott/Michael's? I rode with them in the past, but it looks like they are requiring membership dues to cover insurance, etc. Not sure if that's really the case.

Not sure where you live in AV, but there's a ride that leaves the Lifetime Fitness in Lakeville on Monday's @ 5:30. A, B and C options usually available and good for about 90 minutes.

I have never had to pay, but I haven't had a chance to ride with them this year yet...hoping to ride tonight if I can get out of work in time

I'm too slow for some group rides and of course I want to increase it for races. What exercise/training should I be focusing on?

I own both a road bike and a tri bike. I am wondering which bike I should be riding during off season training, or does it matter?

Riding Zen means nothing more than being keenly aware of your surroundings and in control of your emotional state at all times. It also means riding safe and riding smart.

The most valuable thing you can do for your endurance training is to schedule a weekly 2-4hr long ride from now until the end of time. Simply make this “what you do” every Saturday or Sunday morning.

Individuals are just that, individuals and need individual programs. However, with a group the size of yours, it may be difficult for your coaches to do 25 individual workouts.

The start of the race I had the jitters. I was watching the other age groups start as they seeded the swim with over 1000 participants.
