Age Group Rank = 4/14
Pre-race routine:

breat burrito and orange juice. Might not have been a good choice as I felt bloated and didn't feel that race morning vibe.
Event warmup:

Nothing.
Swim
  • 13m 45s
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 50s / 100 meters
Comments:

We started a 9:00. I could tell it was going to be a hot one. Started off good and didn't kill myself on the first couple hundred yard. Did slow at the end.
What would you do differently?:

Pace better.
Transition 1
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

2nd fastest T! time in AG
What would you do differently?:

Get wet suit off faster
Bike
  • 49m 22s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 15.07 mile/hr
Comments:

Hot and tired. I had zero nutrition on the bike. Took one bottle of water only! Had no energy on the bike and was over heating.
What would you do differently?:

carry nutrition.
Transition 2
  • 01m 6s
Comments:

2nd fastest T2 time in AG.
What would you do differently?:

slow down alittle and remember to take nutrition.
Run
  • 34m 57s
  • 5 kms
  • 06m 59s  min/km
Comments:

Major bonk. With the heat and zero nutriion, I had nothing left. Ran the 1st mile than started to run walk. First station was great with ice cold water, didn't take gatorade. I didn't see any gel or fruit at the station, but I was pass that point to eat anything. I just wanted to finish.
What would you do differently?:

Work on my nutrition on the bike. I could have been 4-5 faster overall.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Pacing on the swim. Better nutrition on the bike. Get tougher on the bike.

Event comments:

Its a great race and will do again. Wish it would start earlier.

I was passing others who were saying, "Good job, 587" (that was my race number). People were cheering me on. These were the nicest people I have ever been around!

By gradually running for increasingly longer periods on a softer surface, you will learn the technique and come to realize the benefits in injury prevention and speed.
