Hi all-

I'm a runner trying to give tris a try

I registered for a sprint in sept, but I don't have a bike. I'm trying to get an entry level one. I looked on CL to find a used one but nothing too appealing in my size. I don't know if I would stick with the sport, so I just want to get a bike around $6-700.
I'm a small girl, 5'4 , and a 48 bike fits me well
I would love a used specialized dolce, but can't find any

There is a Scott speedster contessa 30 for $599, I don't like the color but price is right?

Good deal? Other rec??

Thank you!!

Look into the Giant Avail. It's the female version of the Defy. Great entry level road bike and lots of options. My wife is 5 foot 2 or 3 and it's a comfortable bike that will serve her for a long time.

A 48 what?! There's no such thing as a standard when it comes to what a size denomination means, nor is there a standard how a bike is measured. Hence a 48 from one brand may be vastly different than a 48 from another brand. Brand A 48 may be Small Brand B, XS Brand C, 49 Brand D, 50 Brand E, 46 Brand F and so on. Even if you look at the geometry charts, two identical numbers may mean two different measurements…

Basically, you need to know brand and model of the 48 to have any way to compare….

I would strongly recommend to just borrow, ANY kind of bike if you are not sure about the sport.
I have seen people ride normal grandma bikes in a sprint, nothing wrong with it.

i have a Giant Avail it's a good solid bike, basic components but it does the job. That being said I did my first year of tris on a borrowed hybrid. The only new thing I brought was a helmet that fit me.
