Overcast
Total Time = 2h 33m 56s
Overall Rank = 162/344
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 19/36
Pre-race routine:

Didn't get much sleep the night before. Woke up at 3AM, ate a bowl of Kashi with 1% Milk and a sliced banana in it. Also had a nice hot cup of coffee.
Event warmup:

Mostly stretching in the arms and hamstrings. I wanted movement to help settle my wetsuit.
Swim
  • 14m 54s
  • 800 meters
  • 01m 52s / 100 meters
Comments:

Started to excited. Hit the cold water and couldn't get my breathing down. Was very foggy out, so course was shortened to half mile instead of 1500m.
What would you do differently?:

Wrong goggles, I should have used my clear set. The polarized worked, but with the fog on the lake it was difficult to see the next buoy and set a line. I also should have worked my sighting skills before the race, a couple times I was pin balling off other swimmers because I couldn't hold a straight line.
Transition 1
  • 03m 22s
Bike
  • 1h 10m 36s
  • 23.6 miles
  • 20.06 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike was good. I was worried since I hadn't rode the bike in over a month, but I did fairly well. Back started to get agitated towards the end of the ride, this is due to my lack of riding in the aero position for extensive times.
What would you do differently?:

Train the bike more. I hit it nicely during the winter on the trainer, but it dropped off as I started to focus on run and swimming.
Transition 2
  • 02m 52s
Comments:

Finally got to stop and take a pee.
What would you do differently?:

Went good overall.
Run
  • 1h 02m 14s
  • 6.2 kms
  • 10m 02s  min/km
Comments:

Must get better at running off the bike. 10K's aren't hard, just coming off the bike I seem to pop.
What would you do differently?:

Train bricks.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked it out and drank down some recoverite.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training, swimming in S patterns, not training to run off the bike...

Event comments:

Fog delayed and shortened the swim, no aid stations on bike course. Other than that was a great event. Lots of fun.
