Subject: Elroy Sparta trail
Hello Sconnie's... My wife and I live in Minnesota, She goes to Summerfest every year with her friends, I go every other year. This year is my off year I have a question for you. Would it be feasible to leave Milwaukee in the morning, drive to Elroy or Sparta ride the trail both ways (62 miles) and drive back to Milwaukee ??

Also, which end should I start at? I'd rather do the uphill portion first if there is one..

 It’s been a number of years since I rode the trail but I believe it’s slightly downhill from Elroy to Sparta. Keep in mind it’s crushed gravel and you will need to walk the tunnels (flash light is a must) so it will take you a bit longer than a normal paved trail.  I would think it would make for a long day but doable if you got an early start.  It’s definitely a fun experience!

Thank you. I didn't know you had to walk the tunnels. I have a very powerful bike light. I really have the entire day, so I think I'm going to do it. When I nail down the exact dat (One day in the first week of July) I'll post here and see if anyone wants to join me...

Knee Pain on Uneven Surface

I can train for half marathons on pavement and on trails, but as soon as I change it up to gravel or loose dirt my knee swells and the pain it causes is unreal. Any ideas why this happens?
