Who is racing and who is volunteering??

I just signed up to volunteer on the run course. This should be tons of fun and a good opportunity to give back. If anyone is interested in volunteering, here is the sign up - http://www.doitsports.com/volunteer2/jobs-by-date.tcl?event_id=2159...

I just had a oh-oh thought - transition is supposed to be on Harriet Island. Is that still going to be able to happen with the flooding? Will there need to be a change in venue?

I haven't signed up yet, but am planning to race the standard distance. I sent a message to USAT on Wednesday of last week asking if there is a back up plan for transition, as it is going to be cutting it close from the water receding and the area being able to be cleaned up...hopefully it will still go on as planned, but with a race the size of nationals, I would have a hard time believing they would cancel it

Hope to see you on the course! I will be one of the many in a gear west kit

Hopefully they have an alternate plan. Because that is a lot of water to recede in 3 weeks time.

I'll keep an eye out for you. I'm sure hoping there are a lot of Gear West kits out there. I should hit Kevin up for a Gear West cowbell so I can cheer appropriately from my post!

Thanks

Yeah, there will prob be plenty out there...I will have a black visor on...maybe that will set me apart from the masses

Atleast the water has receded enough from Harriet island to make it look like the race will still go on!!

I received an email from the volunteer coordinator today. It said this -

"Due to recent flooding, we are incurring some last minute changes to the course, which might result in the changing of our venue location from Harriet Island to Plato Street. As soon as we hear from city officials regarding the venue location status, I will be in communication with you all. If the venue location changes from Harriet Island, it will be changed to a lot directly across from venue parking."

So things are still up in the air right now.

Don’t forget this is an incredibly big year for sport with the Olympics back in Athens where the modern Olympics started, and especially triathlon to make its second appearance.
