Subject: RE: Average Triathlete Weight There are so many different types of triathletes. So on average, they aren't twigs. Just go to a sprint race and you'll see just about every body type. Usually the longer the distance, the leaner they tend to be on average. Personally, I'm 6' and weighed in a 186 this morning. I have dropped a little over 20 pounds this last year and feel that I still have more to go to lose some excess belly pudge and also make life easier for racing. Especially for the run. But at this weight, there's nothing stopping me from doing any distance that I want to train for. I'd like to see how things look/feel at 175. I'm guessing that I won't ever go much below that. But I also will never be a podium contender either. I race/train for personal satisfaction and to have a motivator to stay healthier. 185 would be a reasonable goal to shoot for I would think. At some point, you'll probably change that number up/down as you get closer. But it's a good number to start with. |
