lite 3 miles night before, roller session and hot tub time.

lite stretching, two bananas and a bit of water

  • 13.1 miles

Comments:

Good run, kept with pace group, 1:55:00 and held the 8:47 pace, could have gone 8:40 or slightly faster. I did break away from the group around mile 5 and dropped back to them in the 8 mile range.
What would you do differently?:

maybe move the a 1:45:00 or 1:50:00 group if available.
Post race
Warm down:

fluids and fuel, a few lite stretches, and a cold shower and nap.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

It was unknown how it would feel as it was my longest run ever.

Event comments:

I would run this again, great event TC in motion did a great job.

Great job!  It really was the best weather scenario.  Although, there sure were a lot of bugs!

I didn't find many bugs, I did however see the best sign a few times, "Worst parade ever" I laughed every time I was them. I did like the little girls with the pom poms and the kids with cowbells. That hill was just nasty, I looked at the elevation guide and thought the bridge (around 5.5 mi) was it boy was I mistaken.

I just started doing tris this summer and I have two under my belt, both sprints. Is it reasonable to build up for a Oly in early ‘09, with a HIM in Oct of ‘09

While adequate protein is important in your sports diet, protein should take its place as the accompaniment to carbs (grains, fruits, vegetables) in each meal and snack.
