I couple of years ago I got prescription Ray Bans with polarized lenses for ~$300. The frames were only $99 though :-) I love the polarized lenses for the most part, but I can't read my HR watch with them on. I don't need glasses for the most part, so wear regular glasses on run and bike.

actually the lenses cost $200. The Ray Ban frames were only $100. I do love them and feel it was worth the money. I have used them driving, on boats, etc and it makes a big difference.

I didn't expct it either. I would look around different places for prices. I will next time I buy them. Some places will also give deals when buying other glasses at same time.

thanks, lara.

i'm assuming that your glasses had a frame with lens inserts. i'm wondering if i get a cheap pair of fake oakleys with a detachable lens frame, would it be possible for them to make them prescription? or do they need to order the lenses from an established company like oakley and fix it up prescription-wise.

I just got the frames from the same store. I believe they had some Oakley frames as well.

I am getting a pair of Oakley prescription sunglasses. My eye doctor sent me to the Oakley website to look for frames. The website also have pairs were you can have you prescription but in them. You are right they are not cheap. I will be paying around $180 for mine but if they block the wind and sun on my bike rides and runs it will be worth it. Go luck! Hope you find what you want.
