Total Time = 51m 31s
Overall Rank = 61/307
Age Group = 20-25
Age Group Rank = 8/12
Pre-race routine:

Woke up took a shower, ate half of an english muffin plain.
Event warmup:

Set up transition area, hung out stretched a little, talked to fellow BTers. Probably should have warmed up more but I was still working out the nerves.
Swim
  • 06m 39s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim felt really good, just went a slow pace, wound up passing a bunch of people ~10, and just took it nice and easy so that I would have more left for the rest.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, maybe have entry swim time faster so I don't have to deal with passing but it felt good.
Transition 1
  • 03m
Comments:

Probably took a lot of time here, I did a lot and walked out of the pool and took my time. First time racing with bike shoes so that was a bit of a problem running in them, and getting my shirt on took awhile. My transition area was also the furthest from the bike start point, which sucked because I had never run with cleats on before. So that probably slowed me down a lot.
What would you do differently?:

Go Faster!
Bike
  • 25m 52s
  • 8 miles
  • 18.56 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt really good with the bike part, started to get tired at the end but overall I felt great. The bike time also includes T1 and T2 but I had my watch on to catch my time.
What would you do differently?:

Could work more on my conditioning on the bike but i'm still getting used to biking. Though I felt really good though.
Transition 2
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

Again hard to run with cleats when not used to it, I walked a little, and my transition area was soooo far away it seemed.
What would you do differently?:

Work on running with bike on cleats. And dismount, not very graceful.
Run
  • 15m 16s
  • 1.8 miles
  • 08m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

Probably need to work on this part more, legs felt heavy at first but towards end was able to pick it up a little. I'm happy with my performance, but if I am going to get faster this is definitely the place to start with the improvements. Tried to go really hard towards end but still far away, waited till closer then kicked it in good.
What would you do differently?:

Practice Bricks more often.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around stretched, got some more water, ate bread with peanut butter, and had a banana.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

TRANSITIONS!!!!

Event comments:

Good race for only my 2nd time (still have to do a full sprint) so for my ability I think it was perfect.

Great job Jeff -- awesome time in the pool.  You and Brad are fish...

As far as seeding yourself with a better swim time, my vote is to pass people, rather than be passed.  Granted, you don't want to sandbag too far back, but psychologically it is killer to get too aggressive in your swim time and get passed by others.  You know what you did here for 400, so that is a good seed time for the next one.

You rocked on the bike, which included T1/T2.  I thought I did too but given what you and Brad did, I have some distance to go!

Can relate on the bricks -- I need to do more of those before Reston, and now the Nation's Tri.

Good meeting you.  We'll figure out a time to start training together -- this month is gone due to my vacation and other committments.
