Comments:

swim was ok..water was warm and should not have been wetsuit legal. did not bring the suit but would have been hot.

went hard on the bike which seemed to be good until the run
What would you do differently?:

not attack the hills as much

Run
  • 2h 08m
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

wow was it hot.. probably picked up some heat exhaustion. had to walk a mile or so near the end on and off.
What would you do differently?:

my long runs are usually early morning. I need to run in the heat more-afternoon runs.
Post race
Warm down:

went and sat in the shade, was really feeling the heat and not feeling well

What limited your ability to perform faster:

probably went a little too hard on the bike. had a goal pace in mind but it didn't work out with the run.

Event comments:

Great race, plenty of volunteers and food. The hills and the heat took their toll on me by the end of the day though.

Some mistakes I made during the Hawaii Ironman 70.3. Don't be caught out on the course not knowing how or not having the equipment to change a flat tire.

It was the morning of Ironman Newfoundland 70.3, I felt queasy. I didn't want to eat or drink anything. I had a full blown case of the pre-race HEEBEE GEEBEES.
