  • 966 meters
  • 02m 20s / 100 meters
Comments:

I am pretty happy with the swim. I have never timed myself while practicing. I was just concerned with not drowning. The water was very shallow for the whole swim. I could have stood up at any given point. I didn't, but I could have.
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster
Transition 1
  • 02m 28s
Comments:

My bike was in the middle of the rack. I was one of the first people to put my bike on the rack earlier in the morning so it fit just fine. The weight of the other bikes weighed down the rack and I could not get my bike out of the rack. This definately slowed me down. I had to lift up the entire rack with everyone's bike on it to get mine out.

What would you do differently?:

Put my bike on the end of the rack.
Bike
  • 50m 31s
  • 14.5 miles
  • 17.22 mile/hr
Comments:

My goal was to average 16mph on the bike. I was able to average 17.22, so I am happy with that aspect of the race. That being said, I got passed like I was standing still for pretty much the whole bike leg. I am not sure what the problem is. I know part of it is the bike I have (mountain bike), but that can't be the entire reason. I realized while I was on the bike that I have never ridden on a flat surface for any length of time. When I ride at home I am either going down a steep hill or going up one.
Transition 2
  • 01m 50s
Comments:

Transition went pretty well. I tried to run to my transition area when I got off the bike and my legs wouldn't work. I had the same problem putting my bike back on the rack that I had taking it off the rack.
Run
  • 21m 59s
  • 2.8 miles
  • 07m 51s  min/mile
Comments:

The run went well. This is the fastest pace I have run so far. I was able to catch a lot of the people that blew by me on the bike.

Congratualtions on your first tri! I'll be the first to agree with you that a sustained effort on a flat course feels totally different from going up and down hills and rollers all the time
