beautiful swim in extremely clean lake, space enough to avoid kicks and being hit by other swimmers, after the first 200m really enjoyed it
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 1

first time using a wet suit, so removing it from the ankles was a bit if of an issue, but not as bad as I thought
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 1h 39m
  • 42 kms
  • 25.45 km/hr
Comments:

the closest to a roller coaster I've ever seen! The road went through very nice small towns integrated in the land -houses were clay color, similar to the land-, but the view was not pretty enough as to make you forget the tough bike course
What would you do differently?:

practice more hilly courses
Transition 2
  • 01m 31s
Comments:

smooth transition with Zoot shoes without laces, nice
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run

  • 10.5 kms
  • 06m  min/km
Comments:

extremely slow, my pace goes from 5 to 5:30 per km, but I was literally dead after the bike leg, although managed not to walk
What would you do differently?:

improve my run with fartleks, practice more bricks bike-run
Post race
Warm down:

walk for 5min while drinking isostar and eating watermelon provided by the organization

What limited your ability to perform faster:

my legs were not responding as I expected

Stellar job Juan! You're totally right about bricks and Fartleks helping your transition. If this Oly, despite the difficulty, provided your with a lot of satisfaction - I hope it is the first of many. If not - there are other races to do.

Either way - enjoy a nice bottle of wine! You've earned it!

The boat was being tossed around. Someone noted that there were whitecaps on the waves. Another guy said, “This is going to be challenging.” I began to wonder what he meant by 'challenging'.

I quickly browsed an article in Men's Health that talked about doing a triathlon, and how it wasn't really that hard. With a "tsk!" I quickly turned the page while thinking, "Yeah, right!"

What we see is that people want to look good – in a bad way. Our society paints a picture of beauty. But nobody wants to really go back to basics of diet and exercise as the fountain of youth.
