Subject: Osprey Sprint Triathlon
My husband (lcsolutions) and I will be doing this race. It will be his second tri and my third...we're new to tris this year and living in the Southern Maryland area. I want to know if, with at least 7 beginner tri members doing this race, there is or might end up being a plan to meet anyone at all at the race?

That would be great to meet some fellow BTers. My wife (crabsrule) may be doing this one as well. The Osprey is a fantastic race, you'll enjoy it.

Fabulous! That makes at least 4 of us if your wife does the race. (I hope she does as I am looking very forward to this as a great, healthy spousal activity for my husband and I). Since you've done this one before, maybe you know of a recognizable location to meet as we draw closer to the race? (Based on the reviews from last year's racers, we chose Osprey over Cape Henlopen, which is the same weekend and we're really looking forward to this race.) By the way, where is Wye Mills, MD?

Where to meet? Well, there's not alot there. There is a pavillion, where everyone else will be, and a parking lot. The best thing is probably to meet somewhere between the pavillion and the boat ramp. Sign perhaps?

Wye Mills is the first traffic light on the Eastern Shore. About 10 min north of Easton.

I did the Osprey last year, it was my first tri. It was a great race. I am hoping to be able to squeeze this one in again this year.

Great to see some replies! As my wife (mswrites) has already said, we are excited to do something challenging like this together as a couple, and look forward to many years of enjoyment from the sport! I look forward to getting to know the BT community and the triathlon fellowship. Look forward to meeting as many of you as possible!

Me too, me too!  I'll be there as well - probably my favorite race of the year.

I've been wanting to meet this Wyecrab guy - word on the street is that he's one bad dude.

I'll be wearing a green CMS jersey (Cambridge Multi Sport) - looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Well, it looks like we could have quite a little group - what fun! We'll have to keep the babysitter longer! Wye, I really hope your wife does the race - it would be great to have another woman to chat about the race. As of now, it looks like I'll be in my sky blue, one-piece Zoot suit. (From the look of all of your guys' training/race logs, you'll be well-rested and spectating by the time I cross the finish line.) But - depending on the temp, I may throw some shorts on top of it. Even though I have another (really short) tri inbetween now and then, I'm already excited for Osprey!

Well, we're still looking...haven't even found a hotel online. Didn't somebody here mention they stayed in one last year? It would be so awesome to hear if anybody knows of where we can call - time is getting short and I don't want to end up in a dump because of waiting too long to make a reservation. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Any hotel in Ocean City is fine...that's where I'm staying (at a friend's condo).  Berlin/Salisbury aren't too far either.

Thanks DT! Still looking very forward to meeting you all. Joe (lcsolutions) and I even have a friend joining us who we talked into doing his first tri. He's not a BTer yet, but we'll urge that for him, too! See you all in a few short weeks!

Looks like lcsolutions and I will be staying on the 6th at the Holiday Inn in Ocean City. Our friend, Donald, will also be doing the race and Donald's fiancee will be bringing our three children to the race to watch! We wish all of you luck next weekend - it's going to be a fun race and we look forward to meeting the Osprey BTers!

Rain is fine.  20 mph ENE wind is going to be a problem.  I hope they're wrong.

I agree with the call based on the conditions...I'm just disappointed. Plus, my hubby called the RD yesterday and asked if he thought it would be cancelled/postponed and was told "No." (Yesterday would have been enough time - at least 24 hours notice - to cancel or change a paid for hotel reservation). Up in the air as to whether or not we'll be there.

I'm psyched!!! Keeping my fingers crossed that conditions will be better on Sunday. That way we can get in the swim and not have to bike into 20+mph winds.

Weather conditions look pretty great for Sunday. No wind...cloudy but not rainy...should be over 60 degrees by 9. Well, at least my husband *or* I should be able to race...still working on childcare to allow both of us to race...we'll see. Either way, I'm looking forward to supporting all of you fellow BTers.
