Subject: what is obsessed?
Hello COJ people,

I think that I’ve reached some sort of milestone, but I’m pretty sure that I didn’t deserve it. I was on BT last night when my roommate came in the room. I was showing her the forum when she stopped me and said, “Roommate, you’re kind of obsessed”. It was said in a rather accusatory tone. (not that there is anything wrong with being obsessed, but I want to earn that title—not have it haphazardly handed to me).

I tried to tell her that I’m barely on the periphery of obsessed (and then started to look for threads to attempt to prove my point). So, if you all have any suggestions about threads to point out to her, will you point me in that direction?

So far, I’ve got:

People who have to question whether or not they are an alcoholic, probably are.  Normal people without a problem do not have to question themselves if they have a problem.

Similarly, those not obsessed typically don't question whether or not they are obsessed.  Only the obsessed obsess on whether they are obsessed.

You are most definitely obsessed.

You are most definitely obsessed.

And so are most of us. Embrace it, don't fight it.

I suppose that after re-reading my post, something like: "me thinks thou dost protest too much" comes to mind. That’s not how it was supposed sound; I wanted to show her that it can/might?/will? get worse. I will, however, try to work on the acceptance...promise.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step.  "We admitted we were powerless over our training schedule and that our lives had become much better"

Show her the 12 page, 6000 view monster peanut butter thread. That's obsession. Or show here the thread about nothing that almost went 10000 views and was about 40 pages.....

Perhaps this life size poster I printed out and put in my office may be over the top! And maybe the staff don't have to bow to it before entering my office and yell "Hail to Endurance Sports!" And having them tatoo BT on their hind legs may be excessive. :-)

Perhaps.....
