Subject: RE: Chamois Cream? Use good stuff and it won't come off in the swim. I use it for all rides of over about 100 yards or I chafe before I get out of the driveway. |

754 | Subject: RE: Chamois Cream? I haven't done anything longer than an Oly, but it stays on for that (and I spend a lot of time on the swim). You could also try products like Aquaphor that are specifically designed to not wash off. That is what I use to prevent bra chafing because Body Glide doesn't hold up for the swim. |

Use Bag Balm, it stays on through the swim no problem I like to use Bag Balm as well. Though my blue chamois look like they have skid marks in them because the grease stains the fabric pretty badly. |

Subject: RE: Chamois Cream? Tell ya what, I break this out occasionally and update it as I go along: Chamois Butt'r - good stuff for general use. It wears off/out at about 1 to 1.5 hours. Chamois Butt'r Eurostyle - same time limitation but definite WOOHOO factor when you're putting it on.: http://www.amazon.com/Chamois-Buttr-8-Ounce-Eurostyle-Lubricant/dp/ accessories/B001C69L6K Sportique Century Riding Cream - This stuff ROCKS! It smells like fermenting beer, though. Works for up to 5 hours as far as I can tell WONDERFUL stuff. has a beer/hops/yeasty smell that I kinda like. The smell is easily identified two or three rooms away so it's not exactly subtle. So far I've done 5 hour rides with it and not a single problem plus it cleared up an irritation spot I had from the last time my cream wore off. Less expensive than Assos.: http://www.amazon.com/Sportique-Century-Riding-Cream-SKU028/dp/B001... Beljum Budder - This stuff works well, has been great for up to 6 hours that I've tried it. A little thinner than the other two: http://www.beljumbudder.com/purchase/ Assos - great stuff as well. It doesn't wear off and works even when you put it on before the swim and forget to put more on for the bike. Excellent stuff. A touch more expensive than the others but worth every cent: http://www.biketiresdirect.com/product/assos-chamois-creme Bag Balm - gets into everything. Coats the seat. Works like a champ for up to 6 hours and is relatively dirt cheap. petroleum jelly based. It's a little thick for me anyway and even when I'm burning up it's still molasses. DZNuts - Not worth the effort for me. Wears off after about an hour or so. Does well until that, though. http://www.amazon.com/DZ-Nuts-Pro-Chamios-Cream/dp/accessories/B003... Asics Chafe Free Endurance - really good and right up there with the Assos but is a different consistancy. REALLY expensive but I'm going to keep a tube around if I find it. There are a number out there now for runners but they're in 1 and 1.5 Oz tubes for about $5-10 so they're not really affordable for the long term. Body Glide - doesn't work for me as a chamois lube. Works great for wetsuit removal but I think I sweat it off in about 10 seconds on the saddle. |

Have only ever used for IM distance, applied in T1 and had a backup in special needs bag that I did not end up using. |

I find that the Eurostyle works a little better than the regular stuff, but putting in the first time was certainly a surprise! |

Subject: RE: Chamois Cream? Originally posted by Lupy probably a stupid question, but why not use Vaseline? Clogs pores which can bring on saddle sores, petroleum based so getting it on wetsuit repeatedly is a bad thing. Bag Balm is vaseline with an antiseptic and lanolin. |
